End of Tenancy Cleaning: What Should Be Included

End of tenancy cleaning is judged against a different standard than a weekly clean — it's meant to bring the property back to the condition described in the check-in inventory. That usually means inside cupboards and drawers, skirting boards, light switches and door frames, not just visible surfaces.

Kitchens and bathrooms get the closest attention: inside the oven, extractor filters, limescale on taps and tiles, and behind appliances if they're moveable. Carpets are often steam cleaned separately, so check whether that's included or priced as an extra.

Ask whether the company offers any kind of re-clean guarantee if the letting agent flags an issue during check-out. Many reputable firms will return within a set window at no extra cost, which is worth having in writing before the day.

Booking a few days before you hand back the keys, rather than on the final day, gives you breathing room to address anything missed without risking your deposit.
